25. Gibraltar. Top things to do in Gibraltar

See this content in the original post

In this week’s episode we take you to the English Overseas Territory of Gibraltar.

We kick things off with the most unusual border crossing from Spain to Gibraltar across an airplane runway.

Next we take you to the iconic Rock Hotel which is where all the movie stars stay when they are in town.

Listen as we wander through the botanic gardens and make some friends at the poolside bar. Leanne tells you how she was stuck in a toilet while Lyle was relaxing on his sun lounge with a mojito.

Of course we explore the town area and tell you just how different it is to Spain - which is literally 500m away.

You can hear all about the wharf and marina area and what it is like to watch the sunset and see all the ships in the Gibraltar Straight. Listen to the legend of how the 14.7km wide straight was made between Gibraltar and North Africa.

Join us as we have a drink and watch the lights of the ships passing by.

Lyle gives you all the fascinating history - and it is really fascinating. You won’t believe how many kilometres of tunnels are under the Rock of Gibraltar.

Together we cover all the information about the ways to explore the Rock and we share all about the tour we did to the Pillars of Hercules - ho hum, St. Michael Caves - spectacular, interacting with the cheeky monkeys - unbelievable, and then the military lookout as we watch a plane take off on the very short runway which is actually a road and walkway as well.

All is explained in this episode, so please enjoy and have fun with us as we make the most of our trip to Gibraltar.

You can see all the show notes and pictures here (there are some great ones of the monkeys)
