Hello we are Lyle and Leanne.
We sold our motel business on 1st April 2019 (no it’s not a joke) in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, Queensland, to embark on our dream life of beach, travel and wine. (You know what happened then!!)
We are very lucky to live in an amazing part of the world, Kings Beach at Caloundra. We have downsized into a small two bedroom, two bathroom apartment which rewards us with lovely ocean views from every window.
This is the second marriage for both of us. Between us we have 4 married adult children and 8 grandchildren – so far.
Being active and healthy is a priority for us. I’m a walker and try to do some Pilates and Yoga. Lyle is a swimmer and swims at least 1.5km most days.
Travelling is something we plan to do for many years to come - and now we podcast all about our travels. We have some great stories to tell since we have been travelling together and we hope to share some of these with you plus our new adventures.
We believe (for us) that travelling shouldn’t be just about how many countries you have been to. One of the main things we have learnt from our travel and podcasting journey is we would prefer to spend time travelling in one country and really feel a part of the culture and the get to know the local people.
So, we made the decision to take our time, connect with a place and its people and that might mean we don’t tick everything off a “bucket list”, but that is just fine for us. And we hope it will mean more informative and inspiring travel podcasts for you.
Three of our favourite holidays have been two to Queenstown NZ, firstly sharing a five bedroom house overlooking the lake and snow capped mountains with my three children, partners and grandchildren. This was as close as you can get to the perfect holiday - family, fun, food, wine, and nature at its stunning best. Lyle skied like he had never stopped. Very impressive. Then our second trip to Queenstown was even more fun with now eight grandchildren and six of them learning to ski. There is so much to do there as you can see by the photos. It was a very special life long memory for me.
Probably one of the most memorable week’s away that we will ever have is the week we spent in the Maldives. We attended three Jimmy Barnes concerts and one of them was right outside our room. There is so much to tell about that week – so keep your eyes open!
Spain is one of our favourite countries - so far - and we have spent over 6 months there exploring nearly 50 cities and villages. Our first batch of podcasts (over 30 episodes) are all about exploring Spain by pubic transport.
Next series we did was about our trip to Italy - with 20 episodes from our travels.
There is so much more to share about what we have done and where we have been – but what I’m most excited about is sharing the next adventure stage of our life with you all and hope to make it fun and interesting.
